R&D Overview

Given the strategic focus placed by ATKOSoft on the utilization of innovative technology, the Department of Research and Development is one of the most crucial departments of the company.

In specific, Research and Development in Software Technology - ranging from telecommunications tools and system software to highly specialized software applications, based on relational models - entails the most important activity and absorbs the largest share of ATKOSoft investment.

Research and Development activity covers a wide range of operations, some of which, are mentioned below:

  • Test and Evaluation of alternative software programs and tools in conjunction with specific applications (implemented by the Research & Software Development Dept.).

  • Continuous monitoring of technological developments in computer hardware and involvement in studies regarding the influence of these developments either on the maximization of effectiveness of existing software tools or on the creation of new ones - through the utilization of new methodologies (implemented by the Research & Software Development Dept.).

  • Listing, application and evaluation of alternative networking and communication methodologies and techniques pertaining to both hardware and the software logical layering. Testing and evaluation of alternative hardware products.

  • Testing and evaluation of connectivity methods between computer systems and other specialised equipment such as Smart Cards (both digital and optical), Video Cameras, ATMs, POS Terminals, e.t.c

Continuous monitoring of end-user needs (both Private and Public Organisations) in order to design and implement optimal integrated computer systems which are tailor-made for specific use and are addressed to vertical user groups.
