Since 1996, ATKOSoft has been involved in R&D Projects of the European Union.

These Projects, launched by the European Commission, aim at the Research in the specific Project area, which must result in the development of a marketable product. Projects are carried out by large multinational Consortia, including Public Organizations, user unions and groups which provide the thematic knowledge, test bed sites for product evaluation (e.g. Hospitals, Public Health Authorities) and Technology Providers in the several areas the Project aims at (e.g. Software Development companies, Telecommunication Companies and Organizations etc).

The Project Consortia are managed by the Prime Contractor, whose duties (besides its specific function in the Project) extend to the full Project management (coordination of tasks of project participants, development of Technological Strategy, financial management, project deliverables etc).

ATKOSoft is the Prime Contractor and Software Developer of several of the most important European projects related to Medical Informatics, Telemedicine and Statistics, through which all its Medical and Statistical Products have evolved and financed, with total budget of about 15M EURO. ATKOSoft has been recognized by the European Commission as a leading Company in the realization of such Projects, and  was awarded a 1996 European IT Prize for it’s amedLineã Software suite,

ATKOSoft participates as Technology Provider in similar projects in the same field.
